The Winter’s Howl Classified wonder weapon in Black Ops 4 can be obtained via the Mystery Box, but this guide details the best way to get one for free.
In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies, the fourth map – exclusive to season pass owners – is set in the U.S. Pentagon. You have free roam of the place, along with access to Groom Lake, the infamous Area 51 test facility. While Easter egg hunters still haven’t completely solved the Classified easter egg, players have worked out how to obtain the Winter’s Howl – Classified’s main wonder weapon. This Winter’s Howl Classified guide will tell you exactly how to get the weapon and use it to slay zombies in the top-secret facility.
Project Skadi Prototype – Winter’s Howl Classified Wonder Weapon Guide
Now we need to explain that it is possible to get Winter’s Howl from the Mystery Box. The chances are slim, and you could end up spending a lot of points if you go for it this way since it’s a game of chance, but it is possible. If you’d like a much more reliable way to obtain the Winter’s Howl Classified wonder weapon though, then read on.
Code #1 – Winter’s Howl Classified Guide
The very first thing you need to do is pick up the key on the lockbox in the War Room Lower Level, by the door to the Panic Room, to the right of the wall-buy. From there, head back up the elevator to the Main Offices and interact with the desk in the middle of the room. This will open the drawer which has a picture of an old Zombies map – Der Riese from Call of Duty: World at War – with numbers on. Take note of these numbers.
Next, you need to ensure you’ve already turned on the power in the South Laboratories. Go back to the War Room and head to the Panic Room. Not sure how to do that? We’ve covered it as part of our Classified Pack A Punch guide.
Code #2 – Winter’s Howl Classified Guide
When you’re in the Panic Room, interact with the TV showing static on the bottom row. The TV will disappear and be replaced with a picture of Kino der Toten, the cinema map from the original Black Ops. Four more numbers will appear – write them down.
Code #3 – Winter’s Howl Classified Guide
Now you need to go and get another set of numbers. Head to the Deserted Hallway, to the side of the spawn room. There are four former presidential portraits on the wall. You need to shoot them in a specific order, but for the final one, you need to make sure you have an explosive weapon. This is the order you need to shoot the portraits in:
- George Washington
- Benjamin Franklin
- Alexander Hamilton
- Abraham Lincoln
When you shoot Lincoln last with an explosive weapon, a panel beneath George Washington’s nameplate will open up to show a picture of Shi No Numa, another old Zombies map, with another set of numbers.
Code #4 – Winter’s Howl Classified Guide
For the final set of numbers, head down to the South Laboratories. Find the Weapon Testing room which has a large metal container with an “Attention” sign, behind a zombie window. Throw a Frag Grenade or Acid Bomb behind the container and the picture to the right of the window which shows Shangri-La, will now display another series of numbers.
With all four codes noted down, go back to the War Room Lower Level and look for the panel in the middle of the room displaying four numbers. You need to input all four codes in this order:
- Shi No Numa
- Der Riese
- Shangri-La
- Kino der Toten
Obtaining Winter’s Howl
When you’ve done that, Project Skadi will have been retrieved. Head to Groom Lake as outlined in our Pack A Punch guide linked above. When you’re here, you need to stay alive for three entire rounds. After the third round concludes, the area to the side of the Pack A Punch machine will become accessible. Interact with the crate in the corner to retrieve the Winter’s Howl wonder weapon.
