Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links: How to unlock more Extra Deck slots

Need more space for your Extra Deck?

When Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links first launched in 2017, duelists could only put five cards in the Extra Deck. At the time, only Normal, Effect, Ritual, and Fusion monsters were in the game, but since then, things have changed. Throughout the years, Konami has added the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, 5Ds, and ZEXAL worlds to Duel Links, and with those worlds came new Fusion monsters and the addition of Synchro and Xyz cards.

As of January 2021, Duel Links players can add as many as seven cards to the Extra Deck. The default maximum is five, meaning that to get those extra slots, users will need to complete two unlock missions.

To unlock the sixth Extra Deck slot in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links, players will need to perform 100 lifetime Synchro monster summons. Duelists can perform these in either offline matches or in PvP action.

For the seventh slot, Duel Links users will need to summon Xyz monsters 100 times. This lifetime mission, much like for the sixth slot, can be completed through a combination of PvP and offline play.

To see your progress towards either of these goals, click on the Stage icon and select the Special tab. Scroll down until you see the missions on the list.

While the amount of summons might seem like a lot, it actually shouldn’t be too tough to complete. In fact, battling in offline play against CPU duels can be a quick way to do this, especially when utilizing the Auto-Duel function. The AI won’t be afraid to summon Synchro or Xyz monsters, even if it sometimes doesn’t make sense. As long as you’re not concerned about this, make sure to pack your deck with Tuner monsters and easy-to-summon Synchro and Xyz cards.
