More Assassin’s Creed Odyssey story and gameplay details have slipped from the Game Informer coverage, which has offered a random 15 tidbits feature with more explaining of the characters and the storytelling.

In particular, Ubisoft Montreal has shared more about the amount of story and choice we’ll face in the game, which is quite unique in the series if you think that players will have the opportunity to have an influence on relationships and more. That’ll come in with 30 hours of interactive cut-scenes overall.

“As a narrative director I would be lying if I said that I didn’t care if people didn’t resonate with story and didn’t want to experience story, because I think that story is very important to establish a connection between the player and the game,” said narrative director Melissa MacCoubrey.

“But I do understand very much that for some people, story is something that they don’t want to get invested in. So we do accommodate players in the way that, yes, they still have to interact with dialogue in order to progress through the story, but you can skip through dialogue as you’re going through. There’s always a push-through option to make sure you can get through dialogue and you can skip through cinematics.”

On top of that, as you might know, you’ll be able to add more characters to your crew and few of them could even be your family members if you meet them across the story. Also, one of those you’ll meet in the main story is historian Herodotus, and he’ll stick with you for quite a long time.

Sokrates will also be part of the cast.

“He’s probably our most famous character that we have. He needed to be special. If you want to engage and go down the rabbit hole with him, he is very happy to do that, and if you want to tell him, ‘Man, I’m not here for this,’ he also responds to that. He’s a little unphased by it, but he’ll get you to try to do it anyway,” MacCoubrey added.

On a final note, the game will feature dynamic weather and will let you explore the entirety of the map from the very first moment, even though you might be too weak to face the opponents you’ll find there. Also, enemy scaling is finally a thing, opposite to Origins.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey releases October 5, 2018.
