Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle 2 could happen sooner or later, as hinted at by Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot.
During a recent interview with IGN, when asked about the relationship between the publisher and Nintendo, he had fond words for late Satoru Iwata, Shigeru Miyamoto, and their cooperation.
He reminded about the beginning of the project, which included a work of trying and convincing Miyamoto that such spin-off could happen with the right quality.
“It was a discussion we had with Mr. Iwata (and with) the person who was organizing the relation between Ubisoft and Nintendo, and so it has been I would say a long discussion and we had to convince Mr. Miyamoto with what we were showing and what we could do. Step by step they opened the door for us to do Mario + Rabbids.”
Then he shared his feelings about the cooperation itself.
“It was a wonderful moment. And it was a wonderful moment for me too because seeing a person who was a fan of Nintendo being able to create something that was recognized by Mr. Miyamoto was something that gave me a lot of promise. I was really proud to see that kind of thing could happen, and when a person from Ubisoft is happy, I’m always extremely happy.”
Finally, Guillemot hinted at the possibility that a Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle 2 could happen in the foreseeable future.
“We can’t say much today, but we had a good relationship, so let’s see what will come.”
Of course, you can’t really tell whether there’s already something in the works right now based on these words.
Looking at the success the original game had, anyway, we feel there’s a strong chance that the sequel could be announced as soon as the next E3.
