The Nintendo Australian Twitter account reveals a new “Heroes VS Villains” tournament for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
A new tournament is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, at least according to the Australia Twitter account for Nintendo.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the ultimate fighting-game crossover that stars the biggest Nintendo protagonists and antagonists, along with some of the other biggest icons in video games. Fight as Mario, and face off against Link and Cloud.
The game came out last year with resounding success, both critically and commercially. The game has five DLC characters to release throughout the first year-and-a-half, with the second DLC, the Hero from Dragon Quest, recently being released. The first DLC was Joker from Persona 5, while the upcoming third DLC will be Banjo and Kazooie from the games of the same name.
The Nintendo Australian Twitter account shared a tweet about an upcoming new tournament for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The theme for the tournament will be “Heroes VS Villains,” and will focus on the most heroic characters facing off against some of the biggest villains in the game. The promo image shows Hero, Mario, Samus, Link, and Fox being surrounded by villains like Bowser and Ganon.

Last December, Splatoon 2 also had a “Hero vs. Villain” themed Splatfest. Splatoon players were able to choose between the heroes of Nintendo games or the villains of Nintendo games.
The “Heroes VS Villains” tournament in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is expected to start on Friday, August 9. It is intended to last for three days.
