Say hello to auto chess, Hearthstone players. Or rather, Battlegrounds.
During today’s BlizzCon presentation, the latest expansion to the hit card game was revealed. It’s an “auto battler,” set within the world of the Warcraft universe. And it looks like it’ll be a lot of fun for fans.
Up to eight players can take part in the game, as you purchase your way through several units in the hopes of building up a suitable army. Along the way, you can buy upgrades to make them stronger, and even score a few bonuses if you come across similar classes.
But this isn’t a routine “auto battler.” Some Heroes are mixed into the fold here, and players can select from 24 in all. Each one has something special with their powers, making them truly special for your team as a whole.
They didn’t provide details as to when the expansion would be available for players to enjoy. However, it did make note that a beta is set to begin on Nov. 12, which should put them through their paces enough to give them an idea of how it works. If you purchased the BlizzCon Virtual Ticket, you can enjoy the action a week earlier, starting on Nov. 5.
We’ll let you know as soon as a release date for the Battlegrounds expansion is revealed. In the meantime, enjoy the trailer below to get an idea of what it’s about, and prepare to master those auto chess skills!
Hearthstone is available now for PC and mobile devices.
