Dreams, the upcoming game/creation tool from Media Molecule, is ending its early access period and sending it off with its very own awards show. The IMPY Awards will honor the best creations made during the game’s early access period across 21 categories.

While Dreams’ early access period is ending, that doesn’t mean its full release date is coming up. Most games keep early access running right up until launch, but Media Molecule is giving itself a little extra time to finalize the game before release. That mostly likely means that the developer has collected all the feedback it needs from early access and has its priorities set for the final stretch of Dreams’ development.

According to a post on the PlayStation Blog, Media Molecule will spend the time between early access and release adding a control scheme that doesn’t use motion controls, creating its own content for the game, and generally improving existing features such as tutorials and Community Jams, which invite players to create their own content around a particular theme.

Current Dreams players don’t have anything to worry about; they’ll still be able to keep playing between the end of early access and release. What it does mean is that anyone who doesn’t have Dreams yet and wants to join in will either have to act fast or wait until release. Dreams early access will be taken off storefronts on Dec. 7, and the game won’t be available for purchase again until it launches. Anyone who buys Dreams in early access will also get the full version on release. No release date has been set yet, but a leak from November revealed a possible February 2020 launch.

To celebrate the end of early access, Media Molecule will be hosting an awards show, called the IMPYs, with categories voted on by Dreams players. Starting Monday, Dec. 9, anyone in Dreams early access can nominate the best creations made during the early access period. Then, in January, voting will open again for specific community awards, and the rest will be decided by a panel of Media Molecule developers and guest judges. The whole thing will wrap up with a livestreamed awards ceremony on Jan. 26. See the full list of categories for the IMPY awards below.
