The French publisher mentioned that “the number of active players on launch day for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla doubled that of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, a trend that is expected to continue as sales of the new generation of consoles increase.”

The press release doesn’t mention exact sales figures nor precise numbers about player engagement.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 in select territories, Google Stadia, and PC, which makes it for a large pool of users who’ll be reached by the ambitious cross-gen release.

“In the context of COVID-19, shipping Assassin’s Creed Valhalla on no less than seven platforms is an incredible achievement for all of the teams involved around the world,” said CEO Yves Guillemot, in fact.

Since it first launched in 2007, the Assassin’s Creed series has sold more than 140 million games worldwide, adds the press release.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the first game in the franchise to support cross-progression across all platforms, thanks to a new Ubisoft Connect platform. The title is expected to have a long tail as next-gen consoles start to spread through the Holiday season and is supported by the usual season pass coming with multiple expansions.

Ubisoft is one of the few publishers that haven’t raised prices on cross-gen titles releasing this year, as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will still cost players $60.
