Just two days away from the official reveal of Battlefield V, the series’ official Twitter has posted a short teaser which looks like it confirms a World War II setting for the game.
The video clip itself doesn’t show very much at all, as a man hovers over the player in first-person view and shushes him. The man is wearing goggles on his head, but not much else can be extrapolated from the setting.
What is very telling, however, is in the in-game HUD. On the top of the video, you can see the multiplayer scoreboard, and the logos for each team. Those logos are for the British and German armies, which heavily suggests that Battlefield will be heading back to World War II.
The Battlefield series has gone all over the place when it comes to time and settings, all the way from 1942 to 2142, and everything in between including Vietnam and modern combat. Most recently, Battlefield 3 and 4 focused on a modern setting, while 2016’s Battlefield 1 brought the series even further back to World War I.
Rumors about the next entry in the series have been circulating for a few months now. Suggested details include the World War II setting, cosmetic loot boxes, and even a Battle Royale mode akin to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or Fortnite.
The full reveal for Battlefield V will take place in a live stream this Wednesday, May 23, so fans don’t have much longer to wait to see which rumors come true and which fall by the wayside.
