It’s a rendezvous with madness this fall as Cyanide Studio’s 2018 Call of Cthulhu adaptation has finally been marked with a release date. The “Official Video Game” based on H.P. Lovecraft’s lore has been in development since 2014, and after a brief lull in the development cycle, it’s finally back making its way to our world. The day before Halloween.

An adaptation of Lovecraft’s short story, “The Call of Cthulhu,” the anticipated role-playing game follows a private investigator named Edward Pierce. He’s tasked with solving the deaths of not just one person, but an entire family on Darkwater Island. While unraveling the mystery, he discovers that the Great Old One, Cthulhu, is about to be revived. It should be rife with Eldritch abominations.

Previously developer Frogwares was handling the title, but after two years of inactivity publisher Focus Home Interactive announced that Cyanide would be taking the reins instead. It’s utilizing Unreal Engine 4 and manifested as a semi-open world investigative RPG with stealth and psychological horror elements.

If that sounds like it might be down your dimly-lit alleyway, you can pick up the game on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Oct. 30.
