Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Requires a Heaping Amount of Space On PC

As you might have seen from the system requirements, we revealed earlier today, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is not a small game. It might require the most significant amount of space for a game in the series to date, eclipsing the monstrous Infinite Warfare from three years ago.

Infinity Ward confirmed in the specs that the game requires 175GB of hard drive space to store on your PC, either desktop or laptop. Previously, Call of Duty: WWII, from 2017, required 90GB of hard drive space. And before that, Infinite Warfare required well over 100GB, before game updates.

This information follows the news regarding Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC. Its alleged specs indicate that the game will require 150GB of hard drive space, which balloons past the 89.19GB of space needed on PlayStation 4 and PC.

Call of Duty’s current PC standing makes it one of the biggest, if not the biggest, game on the market right now. It even beats out Gears 5, which requires only 90GB of hard drive space by comparison. The fact that Modern Warfare nearly doubles that number is quite startling.

And it leaves a rather interesting question – just how big will the game be on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One front? Infinity Ward hasn’t confirmed that number yet. However, it’ll likely be around the 100GB mark, like Infinite Warfare was. Maybe slightly higher. The beta only required about 40GB of space, but keep in mind that it was just for a portion of the multiplayer.

We’ll see what the numbers reveal when Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases on Oct. 25 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
