CD Projekt RED has allowed multiple websites to go hands-on with their upcoming shooter RPG Cyberpunk 2077, resulting in more details about the game being available on the internet, such as improvements to the gameplay compared to previous builds, particularly in melee combat.
According to PC Gamer, swords can now “be an entire playstyle,” while they previously only felt like a replacement for when players would be out of ammo, or even a simple gimmick. Swords have specific perks, such as Slow and Steady, which increases the armor as you sprint and allows you to be faster close enough to the enemies to slice them up.
Deathbolt restores health and increases movement speed after killing enemies equipped with a bladed weapon, making it easier to build combos.
“Wielding a blade in Cyberpunk 2077 [is] incredibly satisfying and super effective,” now, and using the environment to your advantage, “you can clear out an entire facility of heavily armed soldiers without firing a shot,” they write.
A Russian site’s preview translated on Reddit also provides a deeper look into replayability.
According to DTF, who spent 16 hours in the game (that, they say, only feels like a small part of the plot), Cyberpunk 2077 has much-improved driving, melee combat, and shooting compared to this summer’s build, even though the game still needs polishing of bugs.
Interestingly, though, we learn that the game’s different paths, which you choose from the beginning of the story, influence the entire playthrough and not merely the prologue.
The map has many content and activities to explore, and — similar to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — some of the side quests don’t feel inferior to the main missions for what matters development.
All these details make it for a much replayable game and one that has truly taken advantage of the multiple delays it has gone through.
Cyberpunk 2077 is releasing on December 10 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia, and will be playable from day one on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S.
