Cyberpunk 2077 Planning On The Witcher 3-Like Expansions

This article is over 5 years old and may contain outdated information

It looks like something like that will happen for Cyberpunk 2077, which the Polish developer plans on going the same route when it releases on April 16, 2020. The UI Coordinator Alvin Liu has told Prima Games that the studio has idea to take advantage of the “opportunities” this type of games offer.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been a massive game since day one, but CD Projekt RED has been great about adding new content to it post-launch with significant story-based expansions.

It looks like a similar process will happen for the Polish developer’s next game, Cyberpunk 2077, set to release on April 16, 2020. The UI Coordinator Alvin Liu told Prima Games that the studio has plans to take advantage of the “opportunities” available in their game.

“I know when I was playing The Witcher 3, and I finished everything, I still want to know what everyone was up to. I think we’re going to have opportunities like that as well for Cyberpunk 2077,” he shared in an interview at E3 2019.

Sure enough, the studio doesn’t have plans to cut content from the core game to turn into DLC. We know this for sure given the studio’s history with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s DLC felt like actual new content.

“We’re not withholding content; we’re not withholding story for the future to try to, you know, monetize it or sell it in pieces or anything like that,” he said. “You’re going to get the whole, full value game here,” Liu said, adding that the ending will be “very rewarding” and that the story arc will be “satisfying” from day one.

Cyberpunk 2077 releases on April 16, 2020, for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
