The remastered version of the original Dark Souls was announced recently on the Nintendo Direct Mini. And as not much information was released about the remaster, thus the speculations and rumors followed. However, the retail price of the game doesn’t seem to be a rumor as Dark Souls Remastered is currently listed at $39.99 on Gamestop.com for all the four platforms, along with the release date of 25th May 2018.

Dark Souls Remastered Retail Price

Now, the $40 price tag is a premium price tag, considering the fact that the game is a remastered version. On the same website, i.e. Gamestop, currently Dark Souls III: The Fire Fades edition for PS4 is listed at $29.99.

Looking at this price tag the $40 price for the Dark Souls Remastered seems a bit unbalanced as this is a game which has no new content to add, just better performance on new hardware and higher resolution.

The players have already gone through the story once and paying the full price for a graphics update seems unfair. But, it is too soon to say that also as FromSoftware is yet to announce its retail price officially and there is a possibility that they might release some additional content for the remastered version.

According to the details officially confirmed by Bandai Namco, Dark Souls III Remastered will run at upscaled 4K/60FPS On PS4 Pro and XB1X, at FHD 1080p at 60 FPS on PS4 and Xbox One, at 720p obviously at 30 FPS and when docked the game will support up to 1080p HD at 30 FPS on Nintendo Switch.
