EA Announces Games, EA Access Coming to Steam

EA has announced that its EA Access subscription service is coming to Steam and will have cross-play with Origin.

A while ago, publisher Electronic Arts decided to create their own digital storefront for PC versions of its games. Following this creation of Origin, EA stopped selling new releases on the popular storefront Steam. However, EA recently started teasing that its newer games may come to Steam soon.

Today, Oct. 29, in an official announcement, EA confirmed that some of its newer and upcoming games are coming to Steam. The statement starts by stating that EA’s subscription service, EA Access, will be available for Steam users beginning next spring. Subscribers will have access to a library of EA games, including a bunch of Mass Effect, Battlefield, and EA Sports games.

Additionally, some of EA’s games that have never been available on Steam will be made available as stand-alone purchases, separate from EA Access, for those who want to pay for a game once instead of subscribing to a service. This program will start with the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which is launching on Nov.15 and will be available on Steam.

Other games like The Sims 4 and Unravel Two will be coming to Steam “in the coming months.” Some of EA’s major multiplayer games, such as Apex Legends, FIFA 20, and Battlefield V, will come to Steam next year. EA also confirms that these multiplayer games will feature cross-play between those playing on Steam and those playing on Origin.

EA promises more information on its games coming to Steam over the next several weeks and months.
