V-Bucks and bragging rights are once again on the line this weekend as Epic Games has announced the return of the Showdown limited time mode in Fortnite. This time, it will be played in the Blitz game mode.

Blitz is a faster-paced version of the regular game mode, with faster-moving circles and an overall feeling of urgency that isn’t always there normally. Plus, the rules have changed a bit for this iteration of Showdown.

Instead of having to play 50 matches, you will now only have to play in 25. Points are still awarded for placements, but now players will earn three points for every elimination earned. Kills mean something now, more than they did in the Solo Showdown event from a few weeks ago. The total amount of points in 25 games played will be your final score.

There will be more winners this time, too, as the top 100 players from each region will win rewards, as opposed to the top 100 players overall. First place will receive 20,000 V-Bucks, while second through fifth will receive 13,500, and sixth through 100th place will win 7,500.

“Expect ‘Showdown’ Limited Time Modes to serve as a test of your survival talent,” said Epic Games. “We’ll continue to make adjustments to future Showdown matches. Additionally, we’re looking to grow opportunities for all types of players to challenge their skills in their own way. We’ll be exploring different Showdown formats on a regular basis in the future.”

Blitz Showdown is live now and will end on Monday, June 4, at 9am CT.
