Earlier this year, Google revealed Stadia, a video game streaming platform that will let you play on just about any screen. The platform has had a release window of November 2019 for a while now. However, there’s an official date set in stone for when you can expect to start playing on Google Stadia.

Google recently revealed it would be launching Stadia on Nov. 19. It is worth noting, however, that Google stated a while ago that while Stadia Pro would be launching this November, Stadia Base is set for launch sometime next year. These dates mean that while Stadia Pro subscribers will be able to start using the platform on Nov. 19, those more interested in Stadia Base will need to wait.

Here’s a refresher on the difference between Stadia Pro and Stadia Base. Pro is a subscription service where players can pay about $10 a month for the best possible Stadia performance, which includes 4K visuals at 60 frames per second with 5.1 surround sound. Pro subscribers also receive a free game each month, starting with Destiny 2 in November. Base, on the other hand, is not a subscription service, but rather a way for users to buy games on Stadia individually. Those who use Stadia Base will still get good performances, but not as good as they would from using Stadia Pro. For example, playing via Base allows games to run at 1080p instead of 4K.

Google Stadia, regardless of whether you’re subscribed to Pro or just using Base, is not a “Netflix for games.” You still have to buy each game individually (outside of the free monthly games you get if you subscribe to Pro) to play them.
