Signups are now available for the closed beta of Mavericks: Proving Grounds, the 1,000-player battle royale game by Automaton Games.

The announcement was made during the PC Gaming Show at E3 today, and a new trailer was debuted by the developer on stage, featuring the first look at the game since its initial teaser trailer last year.

The trailer shows off some of the game’s unique mechanics, such as destructible environments and tracking enemies through the wilderness. Players will return to a hub, which is something of a social space, before dropping into the forest and battling it out against a ton of other players.

One thousand concurrent players is obviously quite ambitious, so it remains to be seen if it can be pulled off or how the game will run with that many players. That’s what betas are for, however, and the closed beta will begin some time this summer.

Players can sign up for the closed beta on the game’s website, and hope to try it out when access becomes available later. Players who sign up before June 17 will receive a special E3 pack in the game.
