Starting March 30, embark on two different types of research quests and help find the mystical Pokémon Mew, which will be released as part of the next update.
In a big surprise, Niantic has finally announced that Mew is coming to Pokémon GO. Professor Willow needs our help in conducting some very important research. The news comes just a day after the Pokémon GO Community Day for March.
Starting on March 30, you will be able to participate in two different types of research quests that may be connected to the mythical Pokémon Mew. The two types of quests you can participate in are Field Research and Special Research.
Finding Mew
To gather Field Research tasks, all you have to do is spin nearby PokéStops, which will give you objectives that include discovering and catching certain Pokémon, or engaging in battles, among other things.
Special Research may be requested by Professor Willow himself, and will take you on a journey to make important discoveries to further aid the research towards finding Mew.
Both types of research will offer great rewards, including a variety of items and event encounters with certain Pokémon. There is no limit to how many research tasks you can complete in a day, so the more you complete the more you earn.
The tasks will also have different levels of difficulties, with more challenging research tasks providing greater rewards on completion.
To achieve Research Breakthrough, all you have to do is complete one Field Research task to obtain a stamp. Collect seven stamps to complete your Research Breakthrough. Once completed, the rewards will be even greater and you may have an encounter with a Legendary Pokémon.
Now that quests are coming to Pokémon GO, this opens the door to a lot of possibilities for the game. This could be a way for them to finally get rid of EX Raid Pass invites and make an EX Raid Pass available after completing a Research Breakthrough.
I’m excited to start my research and finally be able to add Mew to my PokéDex.
