Capcom has provided new shipments and sales data that further remark the amazing success of the latest entry in the Monster Hunter franchise, Monster Hunter World, which is available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The game, that’s yet to be launched on Windows PC, has achieved the new milestone of 7,9 million units in shipments and digital downloads, +400,000 copies in comparison with the previous data gathered in March.
This allows the game to beat Resident Evil 6 as the best selling game ever coming from the Japanese developer, and – again – this amount of shipped/downloaded copies is going to be bigger and bigger when it releases later this year on PC.
Here’s the best-selling Capcom titles history:
- Monster Hunter: World – 7.9 million
- Resident Evil 5 – 7.5 million
- Resident Evil 6 – 7.1 million
- Street Fighter II – 6.3 million
- Resident Evil 7: biohazard – 5.1 million
- Resident Evil 2 – 4.96 million
- Monster Hunter Freedom 3 – 4.9 million
- Monster Hunter Generations – 4.3 million
- Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate – 4.2 million
- Monster Hunter 4 – 4.1 million
“In this business, the record-breaking success of Monster Hunter: World (for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) drove the increase in sales and contributed greatly to improved profit,” the studio reported in its financial note.
“Furthermore, in addition to Resident Evil 7: biohazard (for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC) and Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) Nintendo Switch Ver. (for Nintendo Switch) giving strong performances, Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers (for Nintendo Switch) became a smash hit.
