With more and more shooters moving into the battle royale genre, heading into the future, or stepping back into the past, there is an argument to be made that there is a growing need for a modern-day shooter. World War 3 is hoping to fill that void and the brand new gameplay trailer released at Gamescom seems to reinforce that.

Watching this trailer brought back shades of Battlefield 3, one of my all-time favorite modern-day shooters. That’s certainly a sign that World War 3 is on the right track. Attendees of Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, will have the chance to their hands at the action in person between August 21 and 25th. Polish developer The Farm 51 is also planning to be present at Pax West in Seattle between August 31 and September 3rd. If you’re at either of these conventions, try to check out World War 3 for yourself. I know I will be!

We are also happy to announce that closed technical tests are right around the corner and players will be able to sign-up for them soon. Stay tuned soldiers!

A release into Steam early access is planned for the fall of 2018 and The Farm 51 is eager solicit feedback from folks watching the trailer as well as playing the game. So far World War 3 looks promising, and we’re looking forward to see how it plays out in early access.
