According to information on Nintendo’s website the Switch has sold 19.67 million consoles as of June 30, getting within touching distance of the milestone of 20 million.

The June number is almost two million up on the on the 17.79 million units sold by the end of April. If sales have continued at a steady pace over the last month, which with releases like Octopath Traveller it seems likely they will have, the Switch will have comfortably sold 20 million units by now.

The new figures mean that, having passed the lifetime sales of the Wii U, the Switch is now creeping up on the Nintendo GameCube. That console sold 21.74 million units in its lifespan, so the Switch should pass that in the next few months. After that, the next target will be the 32.94 million units sold by the iconic Nintendo 64.

If Nintendo has it’s way, it will reach that by the end of this financial year. In April Nintendo set a target of 20 million consoles sold in the 12-month period. On the pace from April to June 2018 Nintendo would fall short of that—but that’s without factoring in potential system sellers like Pokemon Let’s Go, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, and Super Mario Party.

Software sales on the popular console are just as impressive. 86.93 million units of software for the Switch have been sold to the end of June—that’s an average of 4.4 games per console sold.
