Starting on Sept. 25, at 6pm your local time, there will be more five-star raids in the game as well. These five-star raids are going to feature Giratina. The increased number of five-star raids only lasts for an hour, ending at 7 pm your local time.
Shiny Giratina can also be found and caught during both series of raid events.
Giratina is a Legendary that originates from the Distortion World, which primarily serves as the underworld in the Pokémon universe. He represents all antimatter in the universe. In a way, he is the antithesis of Arceus, the god of all Pokémon.
Giratina is a ghost and dragon-type, which means it is immune against normal and fighting-type moves. However, it is also weak against ghost, dragon, ice, dark, and fairy-type moves.
There are two forms of Giratina – Altered and Origin Forme. Altered Forme is the Giratina that Pokémon Go states explicitly is available for this event. Origin Forme has the Levitate ability and becomes utterly immune to ground moves.
Giratina Altered Forme returns to raids on Sept. 23, beginning 1pm PDT.
