A Fighting type free for all is heading to Pokémon GO for the first two weeks in May.

Starting May 1 at 1 p.m. (PDT) and ending May 14 at 1 p.m. (PDT), Fighting type Pokémon will start appearing more in the wild and in raids. Not only will we see more Fighting type Pokémon like Mankey, Machop, and Makuhita, but the Fighting type Pokémon Tyrouge will be hatching from eggs more often.

What else can we expect from the Pokémon GO Battle Showdown event? Well, if you’re a gym hardened veteran like myself, you’ll get double XP for taking on gyms and raids. You’ll also receive double XP towards the gym badge once you interact with it as well as more items once you spin the Photo Disc.

Raids will dish out more rewards including a Rare Candy if you’re successful in beating the raid boss. Winning or losing a raid will also grant you 3,000 Stardust, which is six times the normal amount. If you’re participating in a lot of raids, don’t forget to use your Star Piece to grant you double the amount of Stardust and use your Lucky Egg to grant you additional double XP as well!

The Pokémon GO Battle Showdown event is a great way to finish off your Black Belt badge if you haven’t done so already. To complete the Black Belt badge, you must catch 200 Fighting type Pokémon. Once you complete it and get gold, you’ll receive a plus 3 Fighting type catch bonus when trying to catch a Fighting type Pokémon. For more info on the event, head over to the official news post.
