Nexon, the publisher behind the game LawBreakers, believes that their decision to launch the game at a time when PUBG is at its peak is the major reason for their game’s downfall. Shiro Uemura, Chief Financial officer, Nexon, said “Our results in North America in the third quarter were below our outlook, mainly due to the sales from LawBreakers being below our expectations.

Lawbreakers Publisher Blames PUBG For Low Sales

He further added: “LawBreakers is a unique FPS developed for core users. We had very high expectations for its launch; however, the timing of its launch turned out to be unfortunate, specifically the blockbuster PC online game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds came out right about the same time, making the market environment very tough for first-person shooters in general and for LawBreakers.”

As they said, both the games had a close enough launch dates but, PUBG was launched March 2017 in early access on steam, whereas LawBreakers was launched in August. The duration of launch gap seems to be pretty huge here, moreover, both the games have completely different play styles. So, making a statement like this does not seem to be a legit explanation as for the low sales of LawBreakers.
