The free-to-play game, which began life as a spin-off of the shooter Paladins, first released as part of Steam’s Early Access program back in June. Realm Royale lends a high-fantasy twist to games like PUBG and Fortnite, with magical spells and colorful chickens.
While it enjoyed a brief boom after its debut, peaking at over 100,000 simultaneous players, it plummeted just a month after launch. Concurrent players barely manage to top out over 20,000 on average, and it’s racked up a ridiculous amount of negative reviews on Steam. Hi-Rez Studios’ are likely looking to bounce back with a console debut.
