Spyro: Reignited Trilogy is going to require a download for Spyro 2 and Spyro 3 games, Activision confirmed. The news broke after the official site uploaded the cover art clearly reporting this information.
This means that the Blu-ray disc you’re going to purchase at your local store is set to feature exclusively Spyro the Dragon, and then the rest of the collection is up to you to download from PlayStation Store or Xbox Store.
Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage and Spyro: Year of the Dragon are set to “require download via internet,” says the cover in a rather unexpected move, since Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy had all three titles on disc.
“The global launch date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy is Sept. 21; and we’re excited for fans to play all three reignited games on that day,” added an Activision rep when contacted by PlayStation LifeStyle.
“As with most games today, downloading an update after purchase is quite common. The language on packaging and on the web is to let players know the requirements for Spyro Reignited Trilogy.”
The collection is dropping on September 21, 2018 and it’ll be interesting to see how Activision is going to handle a future, yet still to be confirmed, Nintendo Switch version.
