Rats! Lovely, chattering, whiskery rats! How I love to smack them with my hammer. Now, I obviously don’t mean real rats, that would just be cruel. I mean evil, magical, computer game rats. Skaven, to be precise. Fatshark’s upcoming Vermintide 2 is simply brimming with them, so should you wish to bash a few, this news might interest you.

Vermintide 2 will be having a beta test this week. All those who pre-ordered the game will have access, as will all those who have signed up for the beta. If you haven’t already received your key, expect it shortly. The beta will include one level from the game, and five different careers for your Heroes. It will begin on February 22, and end on Monday, February 26.

For people who may not be aware of Vermintide 2, the game is a sequel to the original, centered around the adventures of five heroes. This time around we won’t just be fighting the Skaven, as they are backed up by powerful Chaos allies. The game will contain 15 different careers to choose from for your heroes, talent trees, and weapon customization. Careers act as play-styles for a hero, with each hero having access to three different careers. With thirteen levels, the game will seek to repeat the success of the first title by offering high replay value as gamers look to become as strong as possible. Levels can be replayed at different difficulties, and different secrets can be tracked down within them.

Vermintide 2 will release on March 8, and is currently available for pre-order on Steam. If you strike now, you can get a 10% discount on the price. It will also be releasing on PS4 and Xbox One. A release date for consoles has yet to be announced. For those interested, you can sign up for the PS4 and Xbox One betas.
