A new themed tournament is coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate later this week.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was released last December and was a commercial and critical success. A fighting crossover game that features Nintendo’s most popular characters, the game was praised for the amount of content it has, and its overall presentation.

Since the release of the game, new content has been added to the game. Paid downloadable characters have been releasing throughout 2019, with Banjo-Kazooie being the most recent DLC character released for the game. Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury has been recently announced to be the fourth DLC character for the game.

New spirits matches are also often added to the game, with players gaining the opportunity to gain more spirits for their customizable fighters.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate also has online tournaments that center on a special theme. Recently, the game had a hero vs. villain theme tournament. Nintendo Life reports that a new online tournament is coming, this time dubbed “Who is the Superstar.” This new tournament will center on Mario characters and stage, with the promo image featuring Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Bowser Jr., and the Piranha Plant.

Japanese Nintendo reports that the “Who is the Superstar” tournament will come to the game on Friday, Sept. 20. This new tournament is expected to run through the weekend.
