The classic game series could soon return for modern consoles.
After the release of the somewhat mixed Fallout 76, a lot of fans are asking, “Well, what’s next?” when it comes to the hit franchise. Perhaps a turn back to the past may be the answer.
Amazon Germany recently posted a listing for a compilation called Fallout Legacy Collection, indicating that Bethesda might be gearing up to re-release the classic games for current consoles. Though the listing was recently taken down, several details suggest that several old-school favorites will make a comeback in the collection.
Included in this collection are Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics, Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition and Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition. While most folks undoubtedly own Fallout 4, this collection may make it worth the double-dip, if only to play older favorites. The only games left out of the collection would be Fallout 76, Fallout Shelter, and the often-neglected Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. (Now that would make for a great re-release.)
That said, some question marks have arisen about the collection. First off, will it include the downloadable content? Secondly, will it come in that cool “bomb”-style container that the previous Fallout Anthology came with on PC? And, finally, what platforms?
Yep, that’s the real question of mystery here, as no platforms were confirmed. There’s a slight, slight chance this could come to Switch, considering Bethesda’s support in the past. But, for now, we can only assume PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the older games possibly being remastered.
Bethesda hasn’t said a word about the collection, so right now it’s a rumor at best. However, a surprise announcement wouldn’t be past them. After all, it was just last month it confirmed that Doom 64 would make a return on Nintendo Switch next month.
